With its updated touchpad, improved performance, and longer battery life, Apple’s new 15-inch MacBook Pro is considered a better and more powerful workstation. There are no major changes when it comes to design though. In fact, the new MacBook Pro looks exactly the same as its previous year’s 15-inch model. The price remains the same as well at $1,999. However, subtle enhancements hardware-wise is enough to improve its user experience, giving you a greater chance of being more productive.

Below are some features that make the newer 15-inch MacBook Pro better for business.

Longer Battery Life

The new MacBook Pro promises a tougher battery, which can last up to 9 hours of Internet surfing over Wi-Fi. If that stands true, that’s an hour longer than last year’s model. It’s a good feature for users who have businesses, since longer battery life is a key feature if you need your laptop to last through the end of the workday without being stuck to a wall outlet.

Faster Flash Storage

Similar to its twin model last year, the new MacBook Pro is powered by a fourth-generation Intel Core i7 chip with 16GB of RAM. Still, expect to have improved performance since Apple is packing in a faster solid-state drive (SSD). Apple claims that the new MacBook Pro is 2.5 times faster than the 2014 model. Hence, your laptop should be able to boot faster and programs to open more quickly. Transferring and copying files should also be quicker.

Slim Design

If you’re expecting a thinner version of last year’s MacBook Pro model, you’ll be quite disappointed. But it’s still necessary to note that Apple placed in a lot of cool improvements without making the machine chunkier. The device is still 0.71 inches thick and weighs about 4.49 lbs, which is a bit lighter than its competitors. And with its slim design, it’ll be more convenient for you to bring it along during your business travels.

Improved Graphics Performance

Users can also choose for a more powerful graphics card in the new MacBook Pro model, with the AMD Radeon R9 M370x GPU now an alternative to Intel’s integrated graphics. For office workers who normally do Office tasks may not be so much excited about the additional graphics improvement. But for those whose business involves heavy tasks such as video editing or rendering, this is a great add-on feature. This is also awesome if you’re someone who likes to play hard just as you work hard.

Force Touch Trackpad

Force Touch is the name of the new pressure-sensing tech from Apple, which allows the company’s touchpads to tell how hard you’re pressing down with your finger. For instance, you can “Force click” or press down harder on an address in the Mail app to view a map of the location in a pop-up window. Also, you can force click on a search result in the Safari browser to preview the webpage in a small window without leaving the current tab.

The Force Touchpad also provides feedback such as small vibrations whenever you make a force click. You will notice that the feedback are a bit more sophisticated than that of your smartphone’s. So the effect is that it almost feels like the touchpad itself is clicking down, even though it’s not moving at all. This small enhancement makes the new MacBook Pro a bit more pleasant to use, especially if you’re going to use it for work every single day.
